Plan a potluck meal where everyone brings their favorite holiday dish. That way you’re able to get a taste of other people’s traditions. You can even host a “Secret Santa” for those scheduled to work so that you can do some gift-giving among coworkers.

Finally, focus on your patients during that time. Although you are missing your family, many patients are also missing theirs. What can you do to enrich their experience? After all, isn’t that what nursing is all about?
