Finding a Work/Life Balance as a Nurse | Health Care Staffing of Tennessee, Inc.

It can be easy for nurses to be stuck working 40-plus hours a week. When you work that many hours a week, it doesn’t really offer that much time for anything else.

Our team at Health Care Staffing of Tennessee, Inc. wants you to enjoy your nursing job while also being able to spend time with family and friends. It’s all about finding a work/life balance that works best for you.

It’s All a Balancing Act

It’s a common theme among working Americans—we try to do it all, and nurses are no exception. However, as much as we try to be superheroes, it can be hard to keep up; therefore, we end up burning the candle at both ends.

Rather than tearing yourself down, we want to offer tips on how you can establish a work/life balance so you can have the best of both worlds.

Slow Down

In today’s society, everyone is trying to do it all. It’s even exhausting writing out all the things we try to do in one day. It’s just too much.

Therefore, it’s important to just take a deep breath and slow down. Improve your time management skills so that you’re making more time between shifts and enjoying your time rather than running from one place to another. Don’t be afraid to say no to things.

Delegate

It’s also important to delegate tasks every once in a while. Do you want to cook dinner but have to pick up your kid at baseball practice at 6 p.m.? Why not see if a teammate’s parent can bring your little one home so you can have time to cook without rushing? Then, maybe you can return the favor for them one day.

Remember, it is OK to ask for help!
