A Better Morning Routine = a Perfect Start to a Nursing Shift! | Health Care Staffing of Tennessee, Inc.
Whether you are a morning person or not, our team at Health Care Staffing of Tennessee, Inc. wants to help you establish a better morning routine that can help you conquer the day ahead!
Start Your Day Off Right
How many times have you woken up on the wrong side of the bed only for it to turn into a difficult nursing shift? We have all been there.
But with these new morning habits to start your day off right, you can look forward to better work days ahead.
First, as soon as you wake up, stretch! Hopefully, you have been asleep for about eight hours. Therefore, your body needs to stretch itself out to help improve its range of motion for the day so that it’s easier to move patients around, as well as be on your feet most of the day. It doesn’t even have to be anything difficult. Even just a simple stretching move like reaching your arms overhead or reaching toward your toes can be helpful.
Second, take five minutes to meditate. By breathing deeply and being more mindful at the start of your day, you can help improve your mood, reduce your stress levels and lower your anxiety.
Breathe slowly in through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth. Keep your eyes closed, and just focus on your breaths so that your mind doesn’t wander elsewhere.
Finally, breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Drink a glass of water to get your system moving and then eat a balanced breakfast that includes lean protein and a healthy fat to help improve your blood sugar levels.
Fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean protein like eggs or yogurt, and healthy fats, such as those found in almond butter and nuts, are just some examples of breakfast foods that can get your morning going!
